I sent my first single, “Covered Ground,” to the distributor today. It’ll be live anywhere you listen to music within the next week, and had I known more about how this works I would have scheduled it better, but I’m flying by the seat of my pants here so we’re all just going to have to wait.
I produced this track entirely by myself. I’m too poor to hire audio engineers, rent a studio, or hire other musicians, and that’s ok. It’s 100% mine and it might not be amazing, but I’m proud of my work. Every sound in the song was created by yours truly.
I wrote this song when I was sixteen, and a I’ve been playing it ever since, so it was the obvious choice to begin my work with, even if it’s not entirely representative of my songwriting sound as it stands in 2021.
Covered Ground is a song about discovering oneself through adversity. It’s a song about reaching the light at the end of the tunnel and knowing that the tunnel needed to be there for you to be where you are now. It’s not about putting the past behind you; it’s about taking everything you learned in hardship with you into the next part of your journey.
Assuming that reception for this single isn’t horrible, the next part of my journey is to begin work on an EP that I hope to release later this year, and if you like what you hear and know (or are) a producer who might be willing to work with me, by all means DM me.
Keep your ears peeled for this one. I’m very excited to share my work with you.

lyrics
Running out in the rain headed toward
The only thing I didn't know that I was looking for
What I found was so much better than I thought it would be
Now I'm looking for a place to go
Hey, there's so much more to life than I thought there was
Now I only want to live it some more
Picking trash out of a garbage bin
For reasons that I did not receive
I found myself taking the longer route
Because it kept people away from me
Now the longer route's the one that you're not on
And every route is the same for me
Don't look back too far
The glory days are right ahead we can live in them now
Pausing once only to decide
The better way to do it and then to make right
The past mistakes and miracles that I did myself
That you might need some credit for
They weren't the only things I was depending on
You stole my heart so now it's fair
Now I'm trying to find the way to say
The things that I've confessed in a better way
With the strength of my fathers and my mothers too
God knows they were there as well
You were there in my moment of need
Now that moment has become my life
Don't look back too far
The glory days are right ahead we can live in them now
